For the development of new process sequences in ferro-alloy technology, analysis and characterizations of available residues are required. In addition, themodynamic calculations and discussions can show the theoretically best way of production and demonstrate points of enhancement. A second area of research is a combined hydro and pyrometallurgical process flow. Basic tests in the laboratory are also performed within this feasibility study. The next step is to adapt test parameters to pilot scale and industrial production techniques. Finally, the technical expertise is evaluated in terms of technology, economy and ecology.
