The source and formation of specific non-metallic inclusions in aluminium alloy melts are of major interest. For the investigations, an AlMg5-melt, based on different input material, is produced in a resistance furnace. Furthermore the melt is contacted with refractory material. The determination of type and amount of non-metallic inclusions in the melt is performed using PoDFA (Porous Disc Filtration Analysis). In addition the dross formation is investigated.
